After doing some research, I discovered that there are a two ways to download Microsoft PowerBI Desktop for windows.

PowerBI Desktop can be download free from the Microsoft Store as an app or directly from the official Download center to windows.

I have created detail instructions below so you can follow step by step and download Power BI Desktop for both download options.

Microsoft (Windows) Store:

If you are using windows 10 or windows 11, you can click the link below. This link will take you to the Microsoft Windows Store. You can download PowerBI Desktop App using this link.

1. Once you click the button it will open a popup window in the browser. Now click Open Microsoft Store.

2. Once you click the button it will open Windows Store in your computer.
   

3. Now in the screen click on Install button.
   

4. It will start to download. It will take sometime to download it in your machine.
   

5. Once it finishing download, you could open PowerBI Desktop by clicking on open button.
   

How to download PowerBI Desktop App?

If you download PowerBI Desktop from windows store it is stored as app. This experience is similar to installing app to mobile devices. This version of PowerBI Desktop is also Known as Power BI Desktop apps. For this method you should be in windows store and must be using Microsoft Windows 10 or Windows 11.

If you are not using windows 10 or windows 11 then you cannot download app version of PowerBI desktop. So to download PowerBI Desktop you need to go to PowerBI Download center.

Download Center:

To download from PowerBI download center go to following official link:

1. Once you click the above link, you will be redirected to Microsoft download center.

2. If you scroll little down you will see the download option. You also could see details, system requirements and install instructions here.

3. Select Language and click on download button.

4. Popup windows will open. Please choose the download you want to. You could download 32 bit PowerBI desktop or 64 bit of PowerBI desktop or both as separate files. Here I selected 64-bit version of PowerBI desktop. Then select next.

5. Download will start automatically and stored in your preferred download location. You can open your download file by clicking open file or folder icon in download pan.

If your download does not start after 30 seconds, you can download manually by clicking a button from the redirected page.

How to download PowerBI Desktop from PowerBI Service?

1. Go to PowerBI Service (https://app.powerbi.com/)
2. Select the three dot ellipsis to open setting at the top right cornor near profile.
3. Select Download
4. Power BI Download is first option in the list. Click the Power BI Desktop. It will redirect you either to the Microsoft Store or Microsoft Download Center.
   1. Microsoft Windows Store
   2. Microsoft Download Center

How to download PowerBI Desktop App directly from computer?

1. In start menu search Microsoft store. Then click the link or click open and Microsoft Store will open.(Only applicable for windows 10 and windows 11)

2. In search box, type Power BI Desktop. Then click the result.

3. Once you click the button it will open PowerBI Desktop App.
